DERMAL FILLER COMPLICATIONS

Are there any risks with filler?

With any procedure there will be risks, especially when injecting into the skin.

When booking in with me, you will be sent a consultation form that will need to be read & signed before your appointment. This will disclose all risks associated with injecting filler.

Two of the main complications associated with dermal filler are;

  • VASCULAR COMPROMISE- When filler is injected too close to a vein or artery, compressing it. Which causes restriction or a blockage in blood circulation of the area that has been injected.

  • VASCULAR OCCLUSION- When filler is injected into a vein or artery, blocking it. Which causes a blockage in blood circulation of the area that has been injected.

Blood carries oxygen, nutrients & antibodies to fight infection. When blood circulation & supply is limited or stopped completely, cells can die, infections can develop or necrosis can occur when left untreated.

  • NECROSIS- This happens when too little or no blood supply is getting to the tissue, resulting in tissue death. Necrosis cannot be reversed.

As a practitioner my main concern is my client's safety & well-being. I take every precaution to prevent complications from happening, yet everyone's anatomy is different therefore complications can happen. As a practitioner it is not only my job to acknowledge a complication & to do everything I can to act quickly to reverse it but also to educate you on the risks and what to look out for. That is why when you choose me as your practitioner you will receive in-depth aftercare & a 24/7 line to contact me directly. I also check in with you the following day to see how you are feeling.
